Set Phasers to Stun: Meeting the Captain at Calgary Expo 2026

Calgary, the countdown is on. From April 23–26, 2026, Stampede Park will transform into the epicenter of the geek universe. While the celebrity guest list is bursting with talent—including a massive Lord of the Rings reunion and Smallville icons—there is one legendary figure whose presence is causing a literal warp core breach of excitement: William Shatner.

The man who defined Captain James T. Kirk is touching down for appearances on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25. If you’ve ever dreamed of standing on the bridge of the Enterprise, this is your moment. But the question is: what are you going to wear when you meet the G.O.A.T.?

At The Costume Shoppe, we’ve been prepping our Starfleet supplies to ensure every fan looks like they just stepped off a transporter pad.

Command the Room in Classic Gold

If you want to look the Captain in the eye, you might as well look like his second-in-command (or his twin). We have a limited supply of Classic Gold Command Uniforms left in stock. These are the iconic V-neck tunics that scream "authority" and "I definitely know how to handle a Gorn."

Prefer the science or medical track? We have the Science Blue uniform tunics as well, perfect for those who lead with logic. And for those of you who like to live on the edge, yes, Red Shirts are available. They are a perennial fan favorite for groups, just a friendly reminder from your marketing guru: if you're wearing red, maybe watch your step near any mysterious jagged rocks or steam vents at Stampede Park. There’s even a classic, iconic Uhura outfit!

Beyond the Original Series

While the 1960s aesthetic is timeless, we know Starfleet has evolved. For fans of the later eras, we have you covered with:

  • The Next Generation & DS9: Step into the sleek, high-collar jumpsuits made famous by Picard and Sisko.
  • Voyager Era: Perfect for those who feel like they've traveled across the quadrant just to get to the Expo.

Whether you are meeting Shatner or attending the panels for Brent Spiner (Data) and Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher)—who are also appearing Friday through Sunday—we can help you find the exact rank and department that fits your personality.

Embracing the Alien: From Spock to Romulus

Star Trek has always been about "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations," and your costume should be no different. If you want to move beyond the human crew, our accessory department is ready for a deep-space overhaul:

  • Vulcan Precision: We have lifelike Spock latex masks and high-quality pointed ears that stay put even during the most intense Vulcan Nerve Pinch.
  • The Empire Strikes Back (Wait, Wrong Franchise): Show your Klingon pride with armored accessories and prosthetic foreheads that would make Worf proud.
  • Romulan Ambush: Elegant yet intimidating Romulan accessories are in stock for those who prefer a more "clandestine" look for the POW! Parade of Wonders.

Why Cosplay Matters This Year

Cosplay at Calgary Expo is more than just a costume; it’s an immersive experience. With local events like the POW! Parade and massive community zones, your outfit is your ticket into a global community.

You can get serious with a museum-quality build, get goofy with a "Mirror Universe" goatee, or just enjoy a completely different look than you’re used to in your 9-to-5. Our mission at The Costume Shoppe is to bridge the gap between your imagination and the convention floor.

Pro-Tip: Don't Wait for Warp Speed
