Community Cosplay Garage Sale in Calgary
A Weekend of Creativity, Community & Giving Back
Calgary’s cosplay community is coming together for something special this March, and everyone is invited.
From March 6–8, The Costume Shoppe will be hosting its very first Community Cosplay Garage Sale, bringing local cosplayers, creators, collectors, and fans together for a weekend dedicated to creativity, connection, and community support.
Whether you’re a seasoned convention veteran or simply cosplay-curious, this event is designed to welcome everyone through the doors, especially if you’ve ever wished Halloween season lasted longer than the few weeks between spotting a Spirit Halloween sign and watching it disappear again.
What Is the Community Cosplay Garage Sale?
The Community Cosplay Garage Sale is a unique in-store event where local cosplayers gather to buy, sell, trade, and share costume pieces, props, accessories, and creative materials.
Visitors can expect to find:
- Pre-loved cosplay costumes and accessories
- Props and build materials
- Wigs, armour pieces, and specialty items
- One-of-a-kind handmade creations
- Inspiration for future cosplay builds
Think of it as the opposite of last-minute Halloween shopping. While seasonal pop-ups like Halloween Alley or Spirit Halloween spring up to take advantage of seasonal demand and leave, this event celebrates the artistry, craftsmanship, and creativity that live beyond October 31. One of the many reasons we are open year-round!
Events like this help extend the life of costumes while making cosplay more accessible and affordable for the community. Instead of starting from scratch, attendees can discover pieces ready for their next convention, photoshoot, themed event, or Halloween upgrade months ahead of spooky season.
Not to be confused with a hobby shop, the event takes place right here at The Costume Shoppe on Blackfoot and 42nd Ave SE, Calgary’s year-round destination for costumes, cosplay supplies, wigs, makeup, and specialty effects materials, long after temporary Halloween stores have packed up for the year.
Supporting the Calgary Food Bank
This year’s garage sale proudly supports the Calgary Food Bank.
Guests attending the event are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations, helping give back to the wider Calgary community while celebrating fandom and creativity together.
Cosplay has always been about community, and this event is an opportunity to turn that spirit into meaningful local impact.
Why Attend?
The Community Cosplay Garage Sale isn’t just about shopping, it’s about connection.
You can:
- Meet fellow cosplayers and creators
- Discover local talent
- Share ideas and build inspiration
- Prepare for upcoming convention season
- See & Learn about our new Brand of Contact Lenses LOOX
- Instore specials and deals to be had
Whether you’re hunting for a missing costume piece, planning ahead for Halloween, or looking for something more unique than what you’d typically find at seasonal retailers, the atmosphere is welcoming, creative, and community-driven.
Well ahead of both The Calgary Expo and Otafest!
We certainly thought about the timing, listened to customers, and we are excited to start the Con season with our Event helping you get ready..
