The Scottish Lass Costume includes:
You’ll be the lass that, wherever she is in the world, identifies as Scottish. Like her, you’ll know the name of your tartan and you’ll want a Scottish lad all your own. You’ll dream that he’ll be an Outlander, all hunky and charming, who’ll sweep you away to the highlands and give you a life of bliss.
The Scottish Lass Costume begins with three pieces: vest, shirt and skirt, that layer one upon the next to produce a darling image right out of those highlands. The vest is black felt, with gold braided trim round the sleeves, collar and down the front, then long about the bottom hem. The vest laces in front with ribbon. The white shirt is pleated and fits tight around the cuffs, with a neckline that may be worn on or off the shoulder. The tartan skirt fits with a wide leather-like belt, which features a fur purse with leather tassels. Last, the tam, or hat, matches the shirt and includes a black fur pom-pom.
The ensemble is ready to wear for any highlander themed event, for a Robbie Burns poetry reading or a haggis dinner … or out for a fun night Halloweening with friends. The dress is short, so if this October evening is a cold one, add a pair of long wool stockings for authenticity.
